Privacy Policy

The short version: Barwise collects nothing about you. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. Your music stays on your iPhone.

What we collect

Nothing. Barwise has no servers of its own. We do not collect, receive, store, transmit or sell personal data, usage data, device identifiers, diagnostics or crash reports.

There is no sign-up and no login, because there is nothing to sign in to.

Your audio

When you import a song, Barwise copies that file into its own storage on your iPhone so it can play and analyse it. That copy stays on your device.

Audio is never uploaded anywhere.
Analysis — finding the beats, bars, tempo, key and loudness — runs entirely on your iPhone using Apple's on-device audio framework.
Deleting a song in Barwise deletes the copy. Deleting the app removes everything.

What stays on your device

Barwise stores your imported songs, their analysis results, your saved loops and your per-song settings such as speed and transposition. All of this lives in the app's own storage on your iPhone. It is included in your device backups if you have backups enabled, which is between you and Apple — we have no access to it.

Spotlight search

If you use iOS search, Barwise makes your song titles findable there. That index is maintained by iOS on your device and is not shared with us or anyone else.

Purchases

Barwise Pro is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Apple handles the entire transaction. We never see your name, address, card details or Apple Account. All Barwise receives from iOS is a yes-or-no answer about whether a purchase is active.

Apple's own privacy practices apply to that transaction and are described in the Apple Privacy Policy.

This website

This site is a few static pages. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics and embeds no third-party scripts or fonts. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses and requested pages, for security and operational purposes.

Children

Barwise is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, of any age.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will appear on this page with a new date at the top. Since the app collects no data, any change is likely to be a clarification rather than a new practice.
